Idle teams move around in The Day's H.S. football coaches' poll

This past weekend was a light one for Connecticut high school football with just four teams playing who have received votes in The Day's Top 10 high school football state coaches’ poll.

A few coaches took inventory of their respective ballots, however. Their alterations were enough to shuffle around four teams within the Top 10, including one that forced another out of it. And all the teams that were moved around were idle.

Bloomfield (9-0) moved up one spot to number seven.

Killingly (8-0), which was previously tied for sixth with Windsor, dropped two spots to eighth.

Lastly, Greenwich (6-3) moved back into the Top 10 as it edged out Trumbull in points, 142-141, to take over at No. 10.

Top-ranked Darien (9-0) continues to receive all 13 first-place votes. The Blue Wave play at No. 4 New Canaan (8-1) on Thanksgiving in the week’s biggest game.

St. Joseph (8-1) and Fairfield Prep (8-1) are third and fourth, respectively. St. Joseph plays at Trumbull on Thanksgiving in another of the week’s best games.

Maloney (8-1) is fifth, Windsor (8-1) sixth and Ansonia (9-0) ninth.
