    Waterford, Plainfield host ECC boys' basketball divisional semifinals on Saturday

    The Eastern Connecticut Conference will hold the semifinal round of its boys' basketball tournament on Saturday at two sites — Waterford High School for the Division I games, and Plainfield High School for the Division II games.

    Tickets for each doubleheader are $11 and must be purchased in advance online at eccathletics.eventchamp.com.

    In Division I, second-seeded New London plays No. 6 East Lyme at 11 a.m., followed by top-seeded St. Bernard against No. 4 Waterford at 1 p.m. Both games will be streamed live via GameDay on www.theday.com.

    New London advanced with a 75-60 win over No. 7 Bacon Academy in the quarterfinals while East Lyme upset No. 3 Norwich Free Academy 55-51, St. Bernard edged No. 8 Fitch 59-57 and Waterford got past No. 5 Ledyard 40-38.

    In Division II, second-seeded Windham plays No. 6 Griswold at 11 a.m., followed by top-seeded Stonington against No. 5 Killingly at 1 p.m.

    Windham defeated No. 7 Plainfield 83-34 in the quarterfinals while Griswold beat No. 3 Montville 77-54, Stonington toppled No. 8 Wheeler 78-31 and Killingly defeated No. 4 Putnam 54-24.

    The semifinal winners at both sites will advance to Tuesday's ECC championship games at Mohegan Sun Arena with the Division II game set for 6 p.m. and the Division I game at 8 p.m. Both games will be streamed live via GameDay on www.theday.com.
