    Local roundup: Galisewski's 27 points lead Colonels over Redmen, 62-49

    Ledyard - Brett Galisewski scored 27 points to lead the Ledyard High School boys' basketball team to a 62-49 victory over Killingly on Saturday afternoon.Galisewski, a senior, scored 13 in the first quarter as the Colonels (1-1) took a 22-11 lead. Deryn Ingram had 13 points and eight rebounds and Galisewski had five steals for Ledyard.

    H.S. wrestling• Kyler Fricke (103 pounds), James Gummoe (152) and Dustin Wilcox (160) each won their respective weight class as Montville won the East Hartford Invitational. Zach Judy (119), Dan Kurasz (140), Dan Alger (145), Nick DeFelice (171) and heavyweight Matt McMahon were all runner-ups for Montville while Nick Kurasz (125), Davon Winn (130), Elijah Rogers (135) and Cody Horton (189) all finished third. Also, Kenny Morrell (140) and heavyweight Ryan Mertha both placed fourth.

    Girls' basketball• Kastine Evans had 17 points as Norwich Free Academy beat Fitch, 67-13, in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division game. Adrianna Velasquez had 13 points and Jahira Smith added 11 points had NFA (4-1, 2-0), which led 38-5 at halftime. Jenna Emerson had six points for the Falcons (0-3, 0-2).
