    H.S. baseball roundup: Mooney's four-hitter helps Montville beat NFA

    Norwich — Chad Mooney pitched a four-hitter and the Montville High School baseball team blanked Norwich Free Academy Saturday, 7-0, at Dodd Stadium.

    Buddy Dewaine had two hits and two runs scored for the Indians (8-3) and Joseph Brachas added a two-run double.

    In other games:

    • Fitch jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings and went on to beat Ledyard 9-3, the Falcons' 11th straight victory. Tristan Hurley pitched a six-hitter for the win, striking out eight with two walks. Izzy Davila doubled twice, Aaron Hill had two hits and scored three times, Hurley had two hits and scored twice and Carlos Rosario drove in two runs for Fitch (11-1). Jordan Kowalski was 3-for-3 with a double for Ledyard (5-6).

    • John Silvestri struck out the final two batters of the game, leading Bacon Academy to a 4-1 win over New London at Dodd Stadium. The Whalers (5-5) had loaded the bases in the seventh with one out. Isaias Cruz homered for New London.

    • Connor Lewis pitched a complete game, 4-hitter with six strikeouts and Waterford defeated Stonington, 12-1. Seth Hoaglund homered and had three hits for the Lancers (9-2) and Jesse Coates was went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Adam Goss had three hits and Will Sherman drove in two runs. Stonington is 6-5.

    • Ian Li pitched a complete-game, two-hitter and St. Bernard stayed unbeaten in the ECC Medium Division with a 7-1 win over Lyman Memorial. Pat Halloran had two hits for the Saints (9-2, 4-0) while Aaron Michaud had two RBI, a stolen base and a run and Bryan Harper and Anthony Malchiodi each had a hit, run scored, stolen base and an RBI.

    • Andy Meagher had two hits for the Williams during its 11-2 loss to Marianapolis. The Blues are 3-6.

    • Mike Dellaporta and Kevin Knowles each had an RBI single and two runs as Wheeler beat Griswold, 5-4, in the ECC Small. Nate Storey added a two-run triple for Wheeler (4-4, 2-2).

    • Eddie Santiago had two triples, three RBI and three runs as Norwich Tech beat Hartford University Friday, 17-1, in the Constitution State Conference. Steve Sieczkowski had three hits, three RBI and scored for the Warriors (8-3, 7-1) and Mitchell Ritchie had two hits and three runs. Bryce Bedard singled and four RBI.
