Ledyard — Ledyard High School football coach Jonathan Hernandez has resigned following one season, athletic director Jim Buonocore confirmed Monday. Buonocore said the position has been posted on the CIAC Website.

"Jonathan worked hard over the last year in his role as head football coach," Buonocore said in an email. "We are sad to see him leave us, but we understand that family and personal obligations come first. We appreciate his efforts during his time spent with us and wish Jonathan and his family the best in the future."

Ledyard was 2-8 last season, culminating with a 27-19 loss to Fitch on Thanksgiving Day.

Hernandez, the 2003 Gatorade Connecticut Football Player of the Year while competing at Bristol Central and former UConn quarterback, took over at Ledyard for interim coach Mark Farnsworth. Hernandez previous served as the head coach at Southington High School and as a collegiate assistant at Brown, Miami and Iowa.
