Best moment of your tennis career: The most memorable moment of my tennis career was last year playing against Woodstock the second time and winning after losing to them the first time. My teammates and I were really excited to face them again.

Checking in with Alison: "One of my most rewarding musical activities has been bringing musicians of all sorts to various retirement facilities in the community. ... We have more opportunities to play and connect with a population of our community that may not otherwise be able to come to a school event. It's very rewarding to see the audience respond to all these classic tunes we play. It's a lot of fun for everyone!"

What you need to know about Alison: After falling to Woodstock Academy earlier in the season last year, Stonington rebounded with a 6-1 victory to claim a share of the Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I title, including a win from Marseglia at No. 3 singles. Marseglia, ranked 28th, then pulled off a pair of wins over higher-seeded players to reach the singles quarterfinals in the ECC tournament. But if you think that's pressure ... Marseglia recently finished her trumpet auditions for eight colleges. In the auditions, Marseglia was required to submit a list of pieces in her repertoire and the attending professors would pick what she needed to play. "The goal is to have an extensive list to show my breadth of experience, while being certain that everything I put on the list I was prepared to play well upon request," she said. Marseglia's goal after she graduates from college is to perform in a professional orchestra, military band, freelancing, teaching or some combination of those. Marseglia said her proudest moment performing came last summer at Boston University's Tanglewood music program when she played a solo on the Boston Symphony Orchestra stage. She has represented Stonington at the regional, state and national levels at music festivals and performed at Carnegie Hall with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. Said Marseglia of playing for the successful Stonington girls' tennis team, which has won ECC titles in 13 of the last 14 seasons: "I really enjoyed playing with the girls on my team, especially when I was younger and pretty much everyone was better than me. When everyone else is better than you, you have no choice but improve!"
