Directions: Take I-95 to Route 12 north. Turn right on Stoddards Wharf Rd. In about a mile, turn left on Avery Hill Rd. Preserve is about 1/4 mile up the road, straddling both sides of the road.
Where to Park: There is a small parking lot on the east side of Avery Hill Road that holds 3-4 cars.
Description: The 1 1/2 mile orange loop trail is a well-marked, easy trail, with several interesting features to explore, including an old sheep-washing pen and the beautiful cascades at Mill Pond Dam. The white and yellow inner trails offer some variety for shorter loop hikes.
Regulations: Open dawn to dusk; dogs must be on a leash no longer than 7 feet at all times; passive recreational uses – hiking, birdwatching, photography – are permitted.
Amenities: Bench located at Mill Pond Dam.
Natural Features: Billings-Avery Brook, the Mill Pond Dam, a large beech tree specimen and a rhododendron grove on East Tract.
