Wordy memo offered little of substance

The Nunes Memo of 1,340 words boils down to the following 38: “(Christopher) Steele was a longtime FBI source who was paid over $160,000 by the Democrat National Committee and Clinton campaign, via the law firm Perkins Coie and research firm Fusion GPS, to obtain derogatory information on Donald Trump’s ties to Russia.”

In other words, Congressman Nunes asserts that the Steele “dossier” is an anti-Trump document, which fact was concealed from the FISC on four different occasions. But assert is all that Nunes does; there is not one word that demonstrates how the content of the dossier relates to Carter Page’s advantage.

The rest of the 1,302 words are just blather that tries to demonize Steele further, along with Bruce Ohr, Ohr’s wife, Bill Priestap, James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, and Lisa Page.

President Trump’s reaction to the Memo − “totally vindicates”− is one of a nearly infinite list of examples of his dangerous separation from reality.
