Listen to Sully, lead with humanity

Thank you for printing the article, “Saving our democracy,” (Nov. 4), by Capt. C. "Sully" Sullenberger. As many Americans I am discouraged by the disrespect shone by leadership, the lack of bipartisan efforts to solve problems and the indifference to common humanity.

I was disappointed that "Sully's" final comments where on the back page of the section. For those who may have missed his final words were "voting for leaders that are committed to the values that will unite and protect us." I could not have expressed it any better. I challenge all newly elected or returned leaders, regardless of political affiliations, to take up a position of common values, work in a respectful bipartisan manner to solve problems, and to embrace each other’s differences as a stepping stone to understanding and compromise.
