Fond memories of family that now faces an awful tragedy

I live at 15 Woodland Drive, on the corner of Benway Court. John and Gertrude Piscezeks, recently murdered, and their family lived up the street a bit. Their daughter and her family lived nearby. The Piscezeks were good parents and grandparents, helping out whenever they could.

I remember their daughter standing with her children at the bus stop. She was a very attentive mother and the children were behaved. There were three of them of which Marcus, now age 18 and accused of the murders, was the eldest.

They had a cocker spaniel that would follow them to the bus top. I used to occasionally bring treats out for it. The youngest daughter would have book to carry; too young for school – just pretending. She couldn’t wait to join her siblings going to school.

The Fishers, including Marcus, eventually moved as the father was in the service.

Mr. Piscezek rented out the house on Benway, where his daughter's family had lived, after that. He would occasionally walk down there to see if all was OK.

I remember the Fisher kids coming to my house trick-or-treating. I had few trick-or-treaters, so I let the children take handfuls of candy. One Christmas season the whole family came by caroling.

All in all, it seemed like a very nice family.
