As a lifelong educator and a registered Democrat, I encourage all to support Mirna Martinez for state representative for the 39th District.

Having observed her tenure as a present member of the Board of Education, it is clear to me that in representing the best interests of our area that she is much more than the smiling face and handshake, without a lot of follow-through that we have seen with a number of our local politicians. Her success in adopting a Board of Education policy and subsequent strategies for a broader representation on board committees and meetings, including students, community members and parents, demonstrates her commitment to include all stakeholders in decision making. These skills will directly transfer to her role as state representative in Hartford and result in a better representation of the needs of New London at the state level.

Mirna is a passionate member of our community who will continue to dedicate her time and energy to listen, ask questions to challenge the status quo and then seek the commonalities that can bring us all together for the continued improvement of our region of the state.
