Don't speak for me, writes woman reader

I read the op-ed, “Why would women knock Women in White?” (Feb. 16), by Kathleen Jacques and I take issue with a lot of her assertions. She suggests that I should join the army of women wearing white in support of inequality of treatment of women in the workforce. I worked for over 30 years and the worst harassment I ever suffered came from other women. I am really tired of the mentality that it's us against them. I'm tired of politics being inserted in every aspect of our lives. You suggest that I either join forces with your women in white in protest or I am uninformed, weak and submissive.

What is the difference between your coercion and that which you assert all women should protest? You do not speak for me and I resent the implication that I am either in agreement with you or I am a woman who accepts less respect and appreciation for my talents. You fight your battles and I will decide which I should fight. This whole movement is ridiculous and I will not support any movement done solely for the purpose of trying to draw attention to women's rights. You have rights. You have choices. Stand up and be the person you believe you are.
