Don't forget some will still need plastic straws

Concerning the article, “Bill barring plastic straws at some restaurants advances,” (March 19), I think that plastic straws should stay available at restaurants because some people cannot drink water, soda or whatever drink without them because they have a disability. Babies would just spill the water on themselves.

If someone objects to plastic straws they can just use reusable straws (but they would need to clean them out very good). Some of the straws just break before the person can even finish their drink, so they need better/stronger straws.

To stop plastic straw litter, give the offenders fines.

I also think that schools should keep the foam trays, just give them to the younger grades and get washable trays for the older grades. Cups with plastic lids should only be given if the person is ordering a meal to go. If there is a restaurant for adults, they don’t need a straw, so just take straws out of those restaurants.

In closing, reading this article made me want to ban straws, but not for people who need them.
