I’m writing in response to the article, “Bill barring plastic straws at some restaurants advances,” (March 19). I disagree with banning plastic straws.

Plastic straws shouldn’t be banned in restaurants because they can be used for many things. In addition to drinking, some people use them for projects. Another reason I think plastic straws shouldn’t be banned is because some people like plastic straws. They don't fall apart like paper straws and can be used to take stuff out of your drink.

Reading about banning plastic straws made me think of the restaurants in New London. I really hope that this letter about banning plastic straws will change peoples’ minds.
