Grocery delivery; what's old is new again

In response to the recent article about home delivery of groceries, I would suggest that it is not an innovation. Welt's Market, on Thames Street in Groton, offered home delivery in the late 1920s and '30s, especially if the customer's name was Morton Plant! The driver was often my father, S. Alvah Welt Jr. He told me that when he turned 16, he drove the delivery truck over to New London and applied for a driver's license.
