My name is Melinda Cassiere, and I am announcing my candidacy for Groton's Representative Town Meeting (RTM) District 5 (School Administration Building). I have been a Groton resident for nearly eight years. At a young age, I was determined to dedicate my life to public service, understanding the importance of being involved in and serving the communities we belong to. While earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice – Investigative Services, I became a volunteer firefighter in my hometown, Griswold. After I completed my college education, I became a police officer for the New London and Norwich police departments.

In 2013, I left my career to raise my children. After spending several years away from the workforce, I am eager and prepared to return to serving in my community. I am married and have two children who attend Groton Public Schools. My work and life experience are personal catalysts in emphasizing the importance of community participation, public safety and education in our town. I am prepared and incredibly motivated to serve in our local government. I am asking for your vote on Nov. 5 for RTM District 5.
