'How horrible it must have been'

We all owe the author of the letter, “Trump has earned the loyalty of the ‘Caucasian Working Class’,” (Nov. 14), a sincere debt of gratitude for clearly and coherently annunciating the difficulties endured by millions of Caucasian males growing up in pre-Trump America, with all the cards stacked against them. How horrible it must have been.

Our hearts should go out to the writer, and all the other Caucasian males of whom he writes, who must have suffered terrible injustices and been forced to endure the humiliation of poor schools, deteriorating neighborhoods, job discrimination and racial profiling by the criminal justice system to name but a few of the social and economic malignancies leveled at them by society.

Call me naive, but I never understood the depth of suffering of this under-represented demographic until the writer opened my eyes.
