Trump acquittal would set terrible precedent

Either by placing party loyalty above principle, or too terrified of his vindictiveness to oppose him, Republican senators will probably acquit President Trump. But do they realize that by doing so, they're permitting all future Democratic presidents to have foreign governments investigate their GOP opponents? And to defy subpoenas when it suits them?
