EB, union let down the workers

It is a truly amazing thing that at times like these the American workforce continues to do what it takes to keep moving forward. While many millions are laid off, many millions still go to work every day because that is the backbone of the United States.

For the companies that are still open; they praise their employees, many with financial incentives to continue to show up each day to work. At Electric Boat Corp., the management and the Metal Trades Council took a different approach. Instead of praise or financial incentive, they chose to make shift changes and removed the chance to work overtime for those that chose to do so.

A change to a person’s normal shift or paycheck should require a popular vote. These changes were done behind our backs and forced on us. In 26 years I have never felt so betrayed by the company and the Metal Trades Council.

The shipbuilders of the American Silent Service were let down.
