Living like hermits, my wife and I took a ride to City Pier in New London recently to see the Mayflower when it was stopping over there prior to its return to Plymouth. Much to our chagrin, most of the people down there were not wearing masks or practicing social distancing. My wife was taking pictures of the Mayflower, and another lady taking pictures stood elbow to elbow with my wife and took her pictures. Her face was naked.

I was sitting a short distance away, and her husband said, "If you don't like it, stay home." What was missing was a city patrolman.

There was quite a crowd on the pier. The only way we are going to defeat this virus is to follow the simple rules.
