A bad time to cough
I am writing regarding Emily Yahr’s article, “CMA Awards 2020: Best and worst moments,” (Nov. 12).
The first thing that I have to mention is the cough. I am sure we can agree that all of our hearts stopped for a few seconds when co-host Reba McEntire turned to the side to clear her throat on live television when announcing the next artist.
If this were last year, no one would blink an eye, but the fact that we are in the middle of a global pandemic definitely caused the cough to raise some eyebrows not only from the viewers but from Reba herself by stating the iconic line, “Not a good time to do that."
I do not know about anyone else, but the room I was sitting in when watching that moment grew so silent, you could hear a pin drop. That was up until the moment we all locked eyes and burst into laughter from the shock of what we just witnessed. The now iconic cough from the one and only Reba McEntire definitely left an impression as something that will be talked about.
