Groton City Police autism approach an example to follow

It would be good to have all communities read The Day editorial about the City of Groton Police Chief Mike Spellman and his department having a program to work with residents on the autism spectrum, “Example of better policing through improved understanding,” (Jan. 9). This initiative from our community-based police department is one of the many reasons it is worth living in the City of Groton. This excellent program has already made a difference in the city residents’ lives. A big thank you goes to Mayor Keith Hedrick and the City Council for their support of the chief in implementing this program. We have a great team running the City of Groton.
