Ledge Light's bright light during Pandemic

I want to call attention to some local residents helping to keep us healthy. The Medical Reserve Corps with the Ledge Light Health District have volunteered hundreds (if not thousands) of hours over the past year with local food drives, meal preparation, contact tracing, flu vaccine clinics, and now COVID-19 vaccine clinics. We are extremely fortunate to have a number of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants, nurses, EMTs, and even veterinarians dedicating their free time to help care for their neighbors. Ledge Light staff is instrumental in bringing us all together and harnessing the decades of education and experience for the benefit of the community.

Ledge Light has hosted COVID vaccine clinics for several months, reaching thousands of local residents, providing Spanish and Haitian Creole translation at many events, and not requiring insurance information. Special needs and autistic residents are given special accommodations, and there have been large-scale drive-through clinics within the Waterford Public Works garage.

Small pop-up clinics where locals can walk in without pre-registration have added to vaccine availability.

Such volunteer efforts help keep this community great.
