United States of America? Well, maybe not so much

I find it sad that we are a country that actually contains five very different countries within one.

We have the Northeastern/New England states.

We have the Southern states including Kentucky, West Virginia, Missouri, and Maryland.

Then there are the Midwestern states; the Western states; and the Pacific Coast states.

It appears that the people from these different regions think completely different politically, racially, and environmentally. As, “One Nation Under God,” I find it difficult believing we will survive as “One Nation” with the current discord and division.

Recently 21 House congressmen voted against awarding the Congressional Gold Medal to officers defending the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Most reasons given (if given at all) were because they did not believe it was an insurrection.

The vote against awarding medals was as follows: none from any of the Pacific Coast States, one against from a Northeastern state, two against from Midwestern states, four against from Western states, and 14 against from Southern states.

Luckily, 406 members of Congress did the right thing to honor our men and women of law enforcement who put their lives on the line to protect them and those 21 coward congressmen.
