Ledyard needs more kinds of housing

Ledyard is poised to be the town people want to move to, but we need more houses at affordable prices to attract new residents. We need to grow our housing stock and diversify the tax base in town. Whether it is skilled tradespeople building submarines down the road, workers at the many businesses in the region, or those who are retiring after their career, Ledyard is right in the middle of all of it. More housing, and more kinds of housing, will allow parents to downsize once their kids have moved out, so they can afford to live their whole lives in town — and it will lower everyone’s tax bill.

We need new leadership at Town Hall to make this vision happen. The Democratic slate has a plan to encourage economic development, diversify our tax base, and develop our infrastructure. I am voting for the Democratic slate on Nov. 2, and I encourage everyone to do the same.
