    Carlson, Mastroianni for controlled spending

Recently the North Stonington Democrats have been using the campaign slogan #bethechange. As the only Republican on the Board of Selectman over the last four years, I agree with them whole heartedly.

I was consistently out voted 2-1 when I would try to “hit the brakes” on spending. A change WOULD be beneficial for the Town of North Stonington.

As the incoming First Selectman my goal is to always have the taxpayers in mind when there is a discussion on the spending of tax dollars. Brett Mastroianni and I share this philosophy and will put it into practice.

We are also on the same page when it comes to responsible growth. One of Brett’s opponents was recently quoted in a newspaper article expressing that one of her top priorities was the expansion of water and sewer infrastructure. This would be a large expense to all of our taxpayers without any certainty that companies would tie in. This “if you build it, they will come” approach does not have a guaranteed outcome.

    Bob Carlson

    North Stonington
