Region could use help from vegetarian squad
I’m writing in support of the letter titled “Fish-eating vegetarian an
oxymoron at best,” published March 30, about the uphill battle of being a vegetarian and trying to find a good restaurant in southeastern Connecticut where you can find something “safe” to eat on the menu—other than a salad or grilled cheese sandwich!
I am a full-time vegetarian. I don’t eat anything with a face or a mother. I, too, find it very difficult to eat out around here.
I found it much easier to eat out in England on a recent visit. Their
restaurants, and grocery items, display a green “V” next to items that
are free of meat, poultry and seafood products. It’s not a guessing game over there.
Whenever I go out here, I have to ask the waitress if the chef can make me a special dish or I have to order
