The summer crowds have been parking in the Route 156 rest area and walking the two miles to Sound View Beach all summer due to Old Lyme's inability and idiocy in refusing to address the parking issue.

Now the attitude is to close the Route 156 rest area on weekends altogether? Families use it to gather and picnic.

What about supporting the businesses in Sound View? The size of the public parking lot has been reduced in Sound View. We are seeing wave after wave of tow trucks pulling cars. Now we see the closure of a state rest area.

It certainly sounds like racism to me.
