The May 8 editorial in The Day is deceptive after noting in large print that "Boosting voter turnout is a worthy goal," the sidebar states "voter fraud is a red herring." There is no evidence of widespread abuse (in states allowing same-day voter registration).

But it is well known that there is widespread abuse in states with Republican governors and legislatures. They have passed laws which make it very difficult for the common people of their states to vote.

Shades of Nixon, Watergate and dirty tricks. Americans have a right to vote.
