No too long ago my son and I were in a Mystic neighborhood placing envelopes on door steps. A woman washing her car was laughing as she motioned her neighbor to come view her Rottweiler viciously barking at us, while she was making comments about us being in "her" neighborhood.

My car is labeled with the name of my business; we never walked on lawns, or knocked on doors. I am a female business owner simply trying to advertise my business with a simple letter full of information, offering our service.

My son feared for my safety as I was closest to the dog. I was embarrassed for the woman; what type of person would laugh at something like this? I honestly felt bad for the dog because he sat and watched as I played with a Golden-doodle that lives right across the street.

It is difficult starting a new business and door hanging is tough enough without having someone getting enjoyment out of someone's fear.
