Needless police chief pushed by Democrats

On March 8, Montville will hold a referendum to decide whether to change from the Resident Trooper Police Department to a Police Department of its own. I do not believe that Montville needs to change. No one on the council or the committee has proven why there is a need for change. All anyone talks about is how much it will cost to change. No one can predict the cost that will occur in the next five years.

Why change now when Montville has and is losing tax revenue from businesses that have closed their doors, eliminating revenues to the town? To spend money on something that’s not needed sounds like the mayor and Democrats on the council are being very irresponsible to the people of Montville, especially, when they can’t justify a real need for change.

This irresponsible vote by the Democrats forced voters to take out a petition. If the Democrats cared about the whole town and not a select few, the petitioners would not have been forced to be out in cold weather, and the people would not have had to come out in snow and cold to sign. The Democrats could have sent the issue to a town meeting in the very beginning.
