    Groton at a crossroads

My name is Joshua Trask and I am running for Groton City Council. I came to the Sub Base in 2002, and because Groton is a wonderful place with so much to offer, my wife and I have chosen to raise our two young children here.

However, Groton is at a crossroads. State funding cuts, mounting city debt, unethical practices and a large, yet necessary, water system upgrade make it more important than ever that we look at how we spend taxpayer money now and in the future.

My Naval service and time at Electric Boat have instilled in me an ethic of responsibility, accountability and integrity. I believe in not shying away from problems, but tackling them head-on to find solutions. These may not be the typical values of career politicians, but they are important now more than ever.

The Groton City Republicans will work towards fostering economic growth, returning government accountability to the people, and maintaining the quality services that the residents of the city deserve by prioritizing efficiencies in the operations of the city. Most importantly, we will do all of this in a manner that is honorable, courteous, impartial and fair to all city residents.

I look forward to serving the people of Groton after May 1.

    Joshua Trask
