The Letter to the Editor in response to mine, suggesting that all those who got a $1,200 windfall from the CARES Act − even when they'd suffered no loss − should donate it, was an excellent idea. I split mine between the Connecticut Food Bank and my church.
What my letter intended to convey was that the government was giving money to people who didn't need it, while shortchanging those who did. Shouldn't we expect our government to be smarter than that?
