    Carney: 'integrity, civility, compassion'

As our 23rd District state representative for the past six years, including Lyme, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook and Westbrook, Devin Carney has sponsored legislation supporting health care, education, the environment, and our state’s local economy, including support for local businesses, transportation, and tourism. A fiscal conservative, he is also compassionate, sponsoring legislation to help the most vulnerable in our communities: children, the elderly, victims of domestic violence, our veterans.

Carney knows good state governance requires bipartisanship and considers both the intended and unintended consequences of each bill, rather than making simplistic, politically expedient decisions. He votes his conscience, not political party. He recently sponsored the bill authorizing statewide absentee voting during COVID-19, again helping to protect the most vulnerable.

A lifelong resident, Devin Carney understands the needs of the 23rd District, and his civility and ability to find common ground is a breath of fresh air. Please do not let the national rancor of political divisiveness invade our local politics. Re-elect Devin for his integrity, civility, compassion, commitment to the community, local knowledge, and bipartisan accomplishments.

    Nancy Hutchinson
