Reading the recent articles about Congressman Courtney and Rep. France reminded me of something I had almost forgotten. In February 2021, after learning that France was going to run for Congress, I emailed France with three questions. I wanted to know what kind of Republican he was. Traditional or Trumper?

My questions were: If you had been my congressman in December 2020 and January 2021, would you have supported the Texas lawsuit to invalidate the election results in four states (like the majority of House Republicans did)? Would you have voted against certifying the election results of two states on Jan. 6 (like the majority of House Republicans did)? Would you have voted against impeaching Trump the second time (like the majority of House Republicans did)?

I never received an answer from France, so I emailed him a second time a few weeks later. Never heard back. Still wondering what kind of Republican he is, although I see he is calling himself “principled.”
