Retirement is a good time to give back

As a retirement specialist, I want to thank The Day for the most recent supplement in the paper featuring many of the best attractions to know about the Town of Waterford.

As I begin to enjoy my aging journey living in and working for my hometown as a poll worker, I discovered it is a good idea to stay actively engaged with agencies that make me feel good.

I signed up for my alma mater's reunion activities serving as Chairman and Class Correspondent for classmates from Saint Bernard High School and Connecticut College. Also, I joined boards and agencies of interest to me such as the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts; New London's Ocean Beach Park; Mystic Museum of Art; Groton's Fort Trumbull Museum and Monument; and Ender's Island at Mystic Board of Trustees.

As The Day's readers consider their own retirement journey in their own hometown or region ... consider giving back your life experiences to the youth or the older population. Feel good sharing your skills and interests in your own hometown with others in need.
