Delay in shooting down balloon concerning

The guest editorial, "Superpower confrontation," (Feb. 7), lays out the dire predictions of Gen. Michael A. Minihan the head of the Air Mobility Command at Scott Air Force Base.

We hope his concerns will not fall on deaf ears in the Biden Administration, especially in their DELAY to destroy a Chinese Surveillance Balloon that first entered U.S. Air Defense Identification Zone north of the Aleutian Islands on Jan. 28.

It was finally destroyed on Feb. 5, six nautical miles off the coast near Myrtle Beach South Carolina a WEEK later. The DELAY is somewhat disconcerting, especially since none of the Chinese Generals called General Milley to give him a heads-up. Our military performed admirably.
