Officials concentrating on the wrong issues

The latest political dimwitted proposal to change the name of the Thames River (estuary), accentuates the missing link in the brains of our governing brethren; the lack of foresight of consequences.

A couple of recent examples: The recent school building projects which never considered the disposition of the many abandoned school buildings occupying valuable, serviced properties.

The New London quixotic pier with its massive overruns and corruption which inevitably will be paid for by the taxpayers. When does the cash flow end on this project?

Now this absurd idea of renaming a river, the cost of which has not even been considered nor the support of the other tribe which borders the estuary. Perhaps the sponsors should dig a little deeper to avoid conflict by discovering the name given to the river by even earlier peoples such as Clovis or Neanderthals.

(Supposedly we all carry their genes).

Why is it that our representatives cannot focus on the basic needs of their constituents instead of undertaking projects having never ending costs?

Next on the agenda is the Mystic Water Park?
