    The cost of medical care

In the discussions about the cost of medical care, I have not seen mention of the fact that the insurance companies, hospitals, and drug manufacturers are for-profit corporations. These agencies exist to make money as a primary consideration.

Extending medical insurance to the disabled, elderly and poor is fine and it looks good in press releases, provided someone [various governments] pays enough to contribute to a healthy bottom line and nice salaries for upper management. Just consider the television appearances, advertisements and telemarketing calls and drug advertisements that inundate every one of us. Look how wonderful we are, so long as someone pays us enough.
