David Collins's article dated May 27: "Stonington won’t enforce deeded public waterfront access in Mystic," and HEAR HEAR to Scott Matson's on-line comment, "I think there is a quite a bit of confusion about beach access. I’d like to see a piece [in The Day] about how beach access works in CT based on a legal framework . . . . “

It's been a hot topic in various locations in the past number of years: for example, Sound View in Old Lyme (LIS), Shennecossett YC in Groton (LIS), and Fort Rachel Marina (Mystic River).

Along with Peter O'Connor's on-line comment, I, too, believe there is a glut of ignorance on this subject, both by the general public and the "owners," let alone proper enforcement by the local government officials of the legal land use and limitations therein.
