    Tides vs currents

As an avid reader of The Day and a lifelong sailor, I would like to ask your assistance in publishing the proper use of the terms “current” and “tide.” Currents are either flood or ebb; tides are either high or low. While it may be colloquially used, the phrases “flood tide” and “ebb tide” improperly combine the two. Steve Fagin will occasionally use the colloquial phrases in his wonderful articles. I realize this may be a quixotic endeavor.
