    Prioritize walkable communities

I believe that we can do more to create sustainable and livable communities by making our towns more walkable and improving public transit options. I am running for East Lyme Planning Commission and one of the hallmarks of our community is the walkability of downtown. But that quickly ends when Main Street does.

Unfortunately, many towns in our state lack sidewalks or have narrow, poorly maintained sidewalks that make it difficult and unsafe for pedestrians to get around. By investing in walkable infrastructure and public transit, we can create healthier, more connected communities. Walkable neighborhoods encourage physical activity and reduce our dependence on cars, which can reduce traffic congestion and air pollution. Reliable public transit options could also help people save money on transportation costs and improve access to job opportunities, education and healthcare. Walkable communities, bikes, and reliable public transit would also reduce traffic. It's time for our state and local leaders to prioritize these issues and invest in making our communities more walkable and transit-friendly.

Let's work together to create a Connecticut that is accessible, sustainable and vibrant for all.
