If college were affordable, more would attend

My name is Amaya Zavistoski and I am a 12th-grader from Bacon Academy High School. I am very concerned about tuition costs in college recently as I think this should not go unheard.

Over the past 58 years, college tuition has been on the rise exceeding over 3.15 times more profits than what it was. If college were more affordable to a variety of students, more people would attend. It's unfortunate that some of the students who are the ones with the drive and motivation cannot get in due to given financial status. It has been proven that tuition-free colleges would improve society and the economy, as well as equality.

Everyone deserves an opportunity to pursue college and get a proper education fitting their needs, and many people are not fortunate enough to reach those goals or pursue them. The extent of how much student debt has to get paid back doesn't seem to be a daily conversation, although it should. Even though college is a privilege, there should be more accommodations for students who just want the ability to learn.

As society becomes more familiar with this problem, there can be more motivation to reduce costs for people in need.
