Fields Memorial School a bright light in Bozrah

An editorial in The Day by Chris Powell, entitled, “Education isn’t improving, but who is accountable?” laments that student performance statewide remains lower than before the pandemic. We write to share the good news that there remain bright lights in the sometimes frustrating world of educational assessment. Fields Memorial School in Bozrah is one of those bright lights. In the most recent school year that students tested, Fields Memorial School (FMS) in Bozrah raised our state accountability score from 65.6 to 80.8! This was possible through the combined efforts of students, staff and families working on a shared goal.

As a result of the dramatic rise in our score, FMS was named a CT School of Distinction in four categories: High Growth in ELA, All Students AND High Needs students; and High Growth in Mathematics, All Students AND High Needs Students. We are proud of our students and school community.

We are grateful to our families for their faith in us and for working with us in educating the students of Bozrah. We appreciate the support of the BOE and the taxpayers of Bozrah, who have made the wise choice to invest in the youth of our community. And we are honored to work with the amazing team of professionals employed at FMS.
