Avery Point baseball team ousted from nationals

The UConn-Avery Point baseball team was eliminated from the NJCAA Division II World Series late Sunday night, losing to Des Moines Area Community College of Iowa, 5-0, in Enid, Okla.
The Pointers (39-11) were held to five hits by Des Moines' Alec Crawford and fell behind 4-0 after one inning.
Stanley Paul had two hits for Avery Point and starter Kyle Florio (4-3) took the loss, failing to get out of the first inning.
The Pointers were making their second straight appearance in the World Series, finishing as the national runnerup in 2010.
