What it is: A lightweight rolling suitcase with a built-in overweight indicator.

How it works: To check if you're over the 50-pound limit on checked bags, you lift a small handle atop the case. The mechanical weight indicator displays red if the bag is over.

The good: Besides the overweight indicator, the bag also is attractive, sturdy and easy-rolling in-line skate wheels. It also has rubberized armor on all its edges and the handles feel firm, yet lush.

The bad: Though it does indicate when the bag is more than 50 pounds, it doesn't tell you how much it's over, so it could make the last-minute juggling of weight between bags tricky when trying to stay under the cash-penalty threshold.
