    STIMULUS FUNDS MARKED FOR SERVICES FOR HOMELESS KIDS

    Gov. M. Jodi Rell announced Thursday that New London and Norwich schools, along with LEARN in Old Lyme, will receive federal stimulus funds for educational and related services to homeless children and youth.

    Rell said schools can use the funds for programs for pre-school-aged homeless children, before- and after-school programs and tutoring; costs associated with tracking, obtaining, and transferring records of homeless children as well as other services; school supplies for eligible students at shelters and other temporary housing; and tutoring, supplemental instruction, transportation costs.

    New London will receive $25,000; Norwich, $17,839; and LEARN, $21,826. The state will distribute approximately $340,000 overall.
