    Old Saybrook police raid party, arrest 11

    Old Saybrook — Police broke up an  underaged party in a summer home in the Chalker Beach area of town early this morning and arrested 11 people, nine of them minors.

    Police said at 5:10 a.m. they responded to a report of loud music at 25 Beach Road West that had woken up the caller.

    When police arrived at the house, people were seen fleeing into the residence. The owners of the house were contacted and reported that no one should be in their house. Police, who thought a burglary had taken place, searched the residence and found 11 people under the age of 19. They also found a quantity of ecstasy, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, alcohol and evidence that drinking games had taken place. 

    Police arrested two adults, one youthful offender and eight juveniles. Police said the arrests were in accordance with the  department’s mandate of zero tolerance for underage drinking and possession of drugs.

    Joseph Corcia, 19, of Orange, and a 17-year-old were each charged with possession of narcotics, delivery or sale of narcotics, two counts of risk of injury to a minor, possession of alcohol by a minor and simple trespass.

    Dashawn Williams, 18, of New Haven was charged with     possession of marijuana, delivery or sale of marijuana, two counts of  risk of injury to a minor, possession of alcohol by a minor and simple trespass.

     A juvenile was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of risk of injury to a minor, second-degree criminal trespass, permitting a minor to illegally possess alcohol, possession of alcohol by a minor and simple trespass.

    Another juvenile was charged with possession of narcotics, delivery or sale of narcotics, possession of marijuana,   possession of alcohol by a minor and simple trespass. Six other juveniles were charged with possession of alcohol by a minor and simple trespass.

    All were released to their parents except the two adults and one juvenile who are being held on $2,500 bonds.
