Norwich Historical Society holds fundraiser Thursday

Norwich – Noting the historical theme of the play “Panic” now showing at the Spirit of Broadway Theater, the Norwich Historical Society will hold a fundraiser tonight, Thursday, Sept. 8, in the theater lobby.

Tickets for the fundraiser are $60 per person for hors d’oeuvres and beverages to be served at 7 p.m. in the lobby followed by the show at 8. The play is based on the panic caused by Orson Welles’ 1938 radio broadcast of “War of the Worlds.”

Historical Society President William Champagne said the fundraiser will help support the group’s projects, including working with the Norwich Community Development Corp. on an economic revitalization of several historic buildings and working with the Mohegan Tribe on a plan to preserve the historic Indian Leap area.

“Money we raise at the (theater) event will help make it possible to continue with these and other projects to protect, preserve, and promote the rich history of Norwich,” Champagne said.

Seats available for tonight’s event. Call Bill Champagne at (860) 889-0303 or email Dianne Brown at DianneBrown@DianneBrown.com.
