Creeps Will Crawl at Guilford Community Center

Creeps will crawl at the Nathanael Greene Community Center, as the doors of the Haunted Mansion creak open for one night only on Saturday, Oct. 22.

Presented by Guilford Parks & Recreation and Moroso Performance Products, the Haunted Mansion transforms two levels of the community center into a darkened portal to another dimension, where spooky scenes populated by the undead come to life. Volunteers from local groups as well as individuals give up their souls for the night to bring the mansion to life.

"We have eight different scenes this year being done by local groups like the Backstage Players, which will be doing an Addams Family scene," hinted Tracy Guliani, Parks & Recreation program coordinator.

Grim guides will lead guests through the mansion's many levels of madness and winding corridors, past shocking scenes done in the spirit of Halloween. The Haunted Mansion is recommended for kids aged five and older as well as fright fans of all ages.

Doors open at 7 p.m.; recommended parking is behind St. George's Catholic Church on Whitfield Street, where a free shuttle will carry victims-make that visitors-to the Haunted Mansion. Tickets, $20 for a family of five or $5 per person, are available at the door.

Those who "survive" their tour of the Haunted Mansion will meet their reward at the end of the journey.

"They'll go through a maze to exit and find a DJ playing music and refreshments," said Guliani.
